My Saturday’s class Jen Thornton (who loves penguins) chose to substitute the snowman that is shown in the 8×10 frame for the cute penguin out of the mini Holiday catalog called “No Peeking” and this is what it looked like – it was so darn cute that I used that one for my 12 x 12 frame – thanks JEN!!!

Then to top it off, Jen made these fabulous cupcakes in honor of two birthdays this month – Barb’s…. and mine – thanks Jen – not only are they stinkin cute with the cupcake flags, but they were soooooo delicious!

AND… Jen’s mom Sue, made a delicious breakfast casserole:

When Sue gives me the recipe, I’ll pass it along – but this was really GREAT!

And last but not least….. this is just a picture of the Advent calendar that we made LAST YEAR, which was the inspiration for these monthly framed art classes because in January, my daughters would not take them down because they loved theirs so much – thus the idea to have monthly themed inserts – and it all started with this one…. a total labor of love!

I’ll be posting the recipe for this month’s insert later this week, but I wanted to share with you this month’s Framed Art insert!

AUGUST FRAMED ART INSERT

Hi Everyone!  Well, August is here and so is a new insert for my Framed Art class!  This month we celebrate Smores day, Sewing Machine day, and just summer with a summer dress, surfing, and beach fun!  We also celebrated another granddaughter’s birthday, Ella, who is turning 5.  She was just too cute and so excited because she knew it was finally her turn to have her picture in a square.  I love the fact that not only do you have the ability to use stamps, but digital images also!  The possibilities are endless with all the fabulous digital downloads that Stampin’ Up! has available.  Mucho thanks go to Jen Thornton for coming up with the idea for the sewing machine and incorporating fabric/ribbon so it looks as though it is actually being sewn on it!  She is a future demonstrator for sure!  Here is the frame that everyone made:

JULY FRAMED ART INSERT

July’s Framed Art insert turned out to be so much fun!  It’s a celebration of the 4th of July, Ice Cream Day, Lollipop Day, Don’t Step-On-A-Bee Day, Tour de France, and just summer!  The 4th of July frame used the Black Magic technique – so much fun – it actually looks like fireworks!  I had never used this technique, so it was a fun technique to try using our fabulous watercolor pencils.  I used another one of our wonderful digital images called Sweets for the Sweet and turned it into a 3-D image by punching out the circle pinwheel with a punch and popping it up on a dimensional.  Using My Digital Studio, I sized one of the “sticks” to fit a 2 x 2 inch square and then used one of the pinwheels to become a lollipop and sized the pinwheel to fit a 1 inch circle.  I then printed them out along with just the circle image which we then punched out with our 1 inch circle punch, added some Dazzling Diamonds, and then popped it up with a dimensional to create a 3-D look.  I then used our very small hand-held 1/16 punch and punched two small holes on either side of the “stick” and threaded up some silver thread and knotted it and tied it in a bow so it looked like it was a ribbon actually around the stick.   The canopy square turned out cute-cute and looks like a real canopy!  I hope you enjoy looking at July’s insert!

MAY FRAMED ART CLASS

Hi Everyone!  Well, just finished up the May Framed Art insert and there’s so much celebration going on!  First – Mother’s day is in May, along with Memorial Day – we can’t forget those who have served and given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, and this insert is in celebration to ALL of us wonderful women who “do it all – backwards and in high heels” even!  LOL!  Also, one square is for all of us to remember to get your mammograms!  Ok – here is May’s insert:

This one is the one all my stamper’s made:

Here is my own personal family insert – notice how I highlighted my mom – the “Queen Mum”!  She’s TOO CUTE!  Also, this month we celebrate our granddaughter Addison’s 8th birthday – Happy Birthday Addison!  I also, for the first time in an insert, used a digital download (Fashionable #129883 for $7.95 – includes many other images and sayings too).  What was VERY COOL was that after I had downloaded the image, resized it to fit, I then used a Versamark marker, went over the image, and then heat embossed it using Irridescent Ice which darkened the image and gave it a beautiful shiny and glittery look – then topped it off with bling!

For the Stars and Stripes square, I used our red and silver glitter paper but needed blue, so I made my own glitter paper by taking some Marina Mist and patted it into my Versamark pad, sprinkled Heat and Stick powder over it, heat set, then sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds over it, tapped it off, and then heat set again and voila!  Blue glitter paper – very cool!  I created the hat using the top of a water bottle – LOL!  Here is my personal insert:

FEBRUARY FRAMED ART CLASS

Hi Everyone! I’ve had a lot of interest in my Framed Art classes. First, these classes are designed where you can hang up a frame and just make a new insert to put in it every month. Every month, I will be designing a new insert with ideas on how to mix some new with the old – a great way to use your punches, scraps of card stock and designer paper, ribbon, stamps, techniques – the possibilities are endless! Here are some pictures using this project in two different ways – you decide which frame and what way you like best – let me know! Here is my first design. It was spaced out to fit in a frame measuring 8 x 10:

HOWEVER, the frame that I have hanging on my wall in my home is larger than that, so using our 12 x 12 textured paper, I just layered the very vanilla, basic black, and then very vanilla again to create a matting effect and then placed the EXACT same squares as the 8 x 10 into my larger frame and spaced them accordingly to create this look:

Gives it a whole different look – so, better on the pretty in pink background, or the very vanilla? Let me know what YOU think! Now I can’t wait to start creating the insert for March! Check back next month when I’ll post it after my class!

The products used to create February’s Framed Art insert were:
Stamps: P.S. I Love You, Greeting Card Kids
Markers: Garden Green, Early Expresso, Rose Red, Melon Mambo, Blush Blossom, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight
Ink Pads: Stazon Black, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink
Paper: Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver Glitter Paper, Patterns Love DSP
Punches: Owl Builder, Cupcake Builder, 1″ circle, 1/2″ circle, 1-3/4 scallop circle, Modern Label, Heart to Heart punch, scalloped Heart of Hearts and Fashionable Hearts Embosslits dies, Peak-A-Boo Frames die, Big Shot
Accessories: Large Basic Pearls, Basic Rhinestones, Crystal Effects, Dimensionals

Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoyed seeing February’s insert!
